1st VariaR International Seminar
Teaching Portuguese around the world
In this space, we propose a discussion involving five conferences and seven researcher-speakers around questions that serve as a starting point for approaching the seminar's central theme: the teaching of Portuguese around the world. We are asking questions about the teaching of Portuguese inside and outside Brazil, the geographical area that concentrates the largest number of Portuguese speakers, as well as questions about the context in which this process is operationalised. To these questions will be added questions from a guest researcher.
Our aim is to build a space for analysing the state of the art in relation to Portuguese as native and non-native language, and its teaching around the world. We are interested in sharing information on curriculum legislation, programme content, working practices and content management, materials for the teaching-learning process, as well as data collection for action research. Based on this, we are interested in taking stock of the urgencies in terms of themes and materials for teaching and corpora for studies to support this teaching in working environments with Portuguese, both at Paul Valéry University and at UFRJ, and possibly even at other institutions (undergraduate and postgraduate). It is also important to look at the teaching of competences in Portuguese linked to culture, literature, the arts, translation, interpreting, dubbing, geo-history, (inter)national political-economic and diplomatic relations and information, interaction and communication technologies.
